The Lost Art of Acting

More and more people of all ages and stages are seeking to work as an actor. Today more than ever there are many avenues for people to find work in front of a camera or stage. With the emergence of social media, independent film makers, networks and reality shows, for example, that are hugely popular and making people in them famous.  To some, these people are celebrities. Many of these celebrities believe that because they are working in front of a camera, that they are actors. That is a misconception.  Being famous, or a celebrity of working in front of a camera doesn't make you an actor. Acting and working on your art makes you an actor.  Today, acting is becoming a lost art and the way to find it is to study with acting teachers like Mel Williams.

For the serious actor, developing a career is a life long pursuit.  It is not something we do when we get inspired or interested and stop doing when we are bored or not working. For the serious actor, acting is a different and specific kind of work that requires self discipline and self respect. These are two very important attributes that every successful actor has and is the rudiment of the method taught by Mel Williams.

Two questions to think about?
What do you know about the art of acting?
How would you describe your self respect and discipline in regards to your experience and studies in acting?
